STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING COORDINATION

Western Students Connections coordinates Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) for students in the Dubbo, Bourke and Warrumbungle school education groups.

Instructions
Print and hand one form out to each student at the beginning of the year. Students complete their details and return to their VET teacher. Use information on this form to enter details on the Student Placement Record (SPR).
Save this form on your computer. Each time you double-click its icon a new electronic form will open. Enter details, then print for signatures etc. Use information on this form to enter details on the Student Placement Record (SPR).
Use this form as a summary sheet for your class' placements. This form must be completed for any non-local placements and forwarded to Western Student Connections.
Use this form to gather information about the employer. Enter this information on the SPR.
This form must be completed in full and signed by all parties BEFORE the student begins the work placement. A copy of the completed form must be sent to Western Student Connections.
This form is for students doing a VET course at TAFE. It must be completed in full and signed by all parties BEFORE the student begins the work placement. A copy of the completed form must be sent to Western Student Connections.

WESTERN STUDENT CONNECTIONS STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING PROCEDURES

Step 1: At the beginning of the year, preferably during VET Induction, Year 11 students should complete the Student SWL Registration Form and return it to their VET teacher.
Step 2: VET teachers may use the Student Placement Request Form to make a summary of their class' placement preferences.
Step 3: VET teachers complete the SWL Student Placement Request Form for any non-local placements (ie to Dubbo) and forward to Western Student Connections. The students' completed Student SWL Registration Forms must accompany this form.
The WSC SWL Coordinator will organise these placements and generate the SPR.
Step 4: VET teachers organise local student placements and obtain employer information for the SPR. The Employer Registration Form may be used for this.
Step 5: VET teachers use the information on the Student SWL Registration Form and the Employer Registration Form to generate an SPR for each local placement.
Step 6: The SPR is signed by all parties.
Step 8: VET teachers forward a copy of each completed, signed SPR to Western Student Connections.
Step 9: Students attend the work placement.
Step 10: VET teachers conduct a follow-up meeting with the student.

Step 11: Please organise the Year 12 placements in a similar way.
